Juvederm Q & A

What is Juvéderm?

Juvéderm is a family of injectable hyaluronic-acid based dermal fillers from Allergan that replace facial and lip volume that’s been lost to aging, weight loss, or sun damage. When Dr. Spurlock and his team, who are experts in female aesthetics, administer Juvéderm, it instantly creates smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin and lips.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural moisturizer that your body produces to keep your skin plump and your joints functioning smoothly. As you age, your body produces less HA, which leads to thinner, drier skin. Injecting HA into areas of volume loss plumps up your skin again and helps it retain moisture for a smoother, firmer look and feel.

Can I lift my face with Juvéderm?

If you have slight amounts of facial sagging or loss of midface volume, Dr. Spurlock selects the thickest Juvéderm filler, Voluma® XC, to make improvements to your cheekbones and midface. The Allure Medical Spa and Laser Center team uses Voluma XC to remedy problems such as:

  • Flat cheekbones
  • Gauntness
  • Slight facial sagging

Voluma XC lasts for up to two years.

Can I get rid of marionette lines and nasolabial folds with Juvéderm?

The Allure Medical Spa and Laser Center experts use the original Juvéderm or Juvéderm Vollure® to fill in deep, aging creases, such as those that develop from your nose to your mouth (nasolabial folds or parentheses lines) and the lines that run from your mouth corners to your chin (marionette lines). Juvéderm lasts about six months. Vollure lasts up to 18 months.

Does Juvéderm erase smoker’s lines and other fine lines?

The thinnest formulation— Volbella® XC — is the perfect filler for tiny lines around the mouth, sometimes called smoker’s lines. Volbella lasts up to one year.

Can I plump up my lips with Juvéderm?

For the most natural-looking lip augmentation, your aesthetic expert chooses Volbella XC. If you want lips that “wow,” the original Juvéderm creates more dramatic volume. Volbella lasts for up to one year.

Does Juvéderm hurt?

Most Juvéderm products contain lidocaine for comfort. Dr. Spurlock and his aesthetic team are expert injectors who use fine needles and mini cannulas to place the product. You may have slight swelling or tenderness for a few hours to days after your procedure. You can use over-the-counter pain medication, if necessary.

How long before I see my results with Juvéderm?

Juvéderm’s hyaluronic acid instantly creates volume wherever it’s injected. However, directly after your treatment, you’ll be a little swollen. Allow about two weeks before appraising your beautiful, final results.
