Sun Damage Treatment Q & A

What’s the best sun damage treatment?

The best sun damage treatment not only removes the top three signs of aging — wrinkles, brown spots, and facial veins — it also revitalizes and rebuilds your skin from the inside out. Dr. Spurlock recommends the ThreeForMe Icon laser treatment because it makes your skin look better, feel better, and act healthier and more youthful.

How does a ThreeForMe sun damage treatment work?

The ThreeForMe treatment takes place over the course of about 30 minutes. Your treatment consists of two stages.

Stage One

Dr. Spurlock passes the MaxG™ intense pulsed light (IPL) handpiece over the surface of your skin. The IPL targets the pigment in lesions such as age spots and in small, twisted facial veins. Your skin looks immediately clearer and is free from spider veins and other damaged vessels.

Stage Two

Dr. Spurlock switches to the 1540 ablative handpiece and treats the same area. The laser’s energy reaches into the deepest layers of your skin, heating and contracting the collagen, and stimulating a process that triggers the production of new collagen and elastin. The 1540 also resurfaces your skin, helping to smooth out fine lines, wrinkles, lesions, and scars.

When do I see my ThreeForMe results?

You notice a healthy, vital glow directly after your treatment. Over the next couple of weeks, brown spots and age spots first darken and then fall off. As your skin builds new collagen and elastin over the next six months, wrinkles and creases smooth out, scars are less noticeable, and your skin looks plumper, healthier, and more youthful.

How many sun damage treatments do I need?

To reverse your sun damage, you probably need a series of three ThreeForMe treatments. Leave at least one month between each treatment so that your skin can heal and you can appraise the benefits of your last treatment. Dr. Spurlock recommends touch-ups every year or two.

Does ThreeForMe hurt?

Not exactly. You may feel alternating sensations of cooling and heat during your treatment. The laser’s beam feels something like being snapped with a rubber band. It may be a tad uncomfortable, but rarely do patients say that it’s painful.

The team at Allure Medical Spa and Laser Center does everything possible to make your ThreeForMe treatment as pain-free as possible.

Does ThreeForMe have side effects?

Your skin may be a bit red and swollen for a few days after your ThreeForMe. The sensation and look are similar to those of a sunburn.
